Beijing gets hot in August, but luckily there are cooler places to visit, not too far away.

In early August we did a weekend trip to the Bashang Grasslands, a 5 hour drive north of Beijing.

Further north it's cooler, making Bashang a popular place to visit and escape the summer heat.

We drove out on Friday afternoon and spent Saturday hiking and horse-riding, before a BBQ and bonfire on Saturday night.

On Sunday we woke up early for a hike up to a nearby peak, passing through a little village on the way to the end.

Below you’ll see Tina’s photos of hikers, hills, horses, fields, and flowers!
